Taxi Driving Lessons
P & P Driving School LTD. Have instructors that are DIAMOND ADVANCED
MOTORISTS who have completed the DIAmond accredited taxi-driver training
course. And have been included in the DATT register.
Councils will be having taxi drivers assessed to ensure that the drivers duty of
care is being met. The DSA and DIA are operating the taxi driving test and
they have very few differences.
Courses are 4 - 8 hours in duration and the course fee is £175.
As there are so many taxi drivers out there and so many new taxi drivers
starting book your course early to avoid disappointment of being in a waiting
list.
Taxi prestart vehicle checks:
F - Fuel - Petrol or diesel
L - Lights - Head, Side, Tail, Reversing, Fog, Hazard, Indicators, Brake light &
reflectors (all clean and working)
O - Oil - Engine, Brake fluid, Power steering & clutch fluid
W - Water - Coolant and windscreen washer
E - Electrics - Wipers (motors & jets), dashboard lights, interior lights,
demisters, windows and mirrors
R - Rubber - Tyres & Wiper blades
Y - You - Health? Medication? Fatigue? Alcohol?
Tyres must have a minimum depth of 1.6mm of tread across the central three
quarters breadth of the tyre around the entire circumference.
Tyre walls must have no major cuts or abrasions and must be inflated to the
correct pressure to suit the load. This information can be found in the vehicle
handbook.
Some medication stipulates, 'may cause drowsiness', or 'do not operate
machinery'. In these instances, the faculties of the driver must be seriously
considered.
